PO4 PRO – Professional Phosphate Test for Aquariums
Phosphates (PO4³⁻) are essential nutrients for all plants and play a key role in cellular energy metabolism. In aquatic systems, phosphates primarily enter through feeding and organic matter decomposition. However, excess phosphates can cause significant problems such as uncontrolled algae growth, disrupting aquarium balance and aesthetics.
In marine aquariums, excess phosphates can hinder calcium carbonate formation required for the growth of scleractinian coral skeletons, slowing their development. Conversely, in heavily planted or coral-rich tanks with low fish populations, phosphates may be deficient and require supplementation. Some reef tanks maintain deliberately nutrient-poor conditions where precise phosphate control is critical to avoid excess or deficiency.
Recommended levels:
Freshwater: up to 0.4 mg/l is adequate, do not exceed 1 mg/l; 0.02 mg/l is sufficient for plant nutrition
Natural seawater: about 0.06 mg/l
Reef aquariums: between 0.01 and 0.05 mg/l (very low for optimal conditions)
Generally in marine aquariums, keep phosphates below 0.1 mg/l
Measurement range and accuracy of PO4 PRO:
Range: 0.01 to 1.0 mg/l (freshwater and marine)
Accuracy: ±0.02 mg/l
Main features:
Accurate phosphate measurement in freshwater and marine aquariums
Essential to prevent algae growth and promote coral health
Helps maintain nutritional balance in the aquarium
Key indicator for regular water quality monitoring
Easy to use with clear, precise results
Why choose PO4 PRO:
PO4 PRO is the professional test ideal for precise and reliable phosphate monitoring, critical to maintaining balanced aquatic environments and preventing problems caused by nutrient excess or deficiency. It ensures optimal ecosystem management, supporting the health and growth of plants, corals, and all aquarium inhabitants.
